Jesuit Missions launches COP28 campaign

November 1, 2023

Jesuit Missions (JM) launches its latest campaign today (November 1), calling for climate justice at COP28.

The campaign will run up to and throughout the 28th edition of the Conference of the Parties, which is being held in Dubai between November 30 and December 12.

It is being coordinated in collaboration with the Jesuit European Social Centre and the Jesuit Centre for Faith and Justice.

There will be a host of resources available on the new JM website, including daily prayers, updates from COP28, regular blog posts and a dedicated podcast series.

There will be documents such as a Guide to COP, a statement from the Ignatian family, a paper detailing our policy asks and a Spirituality Guide.

Jesuit Missions will also provide specialist resources for schools and parishes, and a letter template for campaigners to fill in and send off to their local MP or MSP, urging them to commit to previously agreed environmental goals.

The partner organisations for this campaign are based in East Africa, including an agricultural institute that supports mainly female farmers in South Sudan. Materials linked to these projects are also available online as part of the campaign.

On Saturday December 9, Jesuit Missions will be taking part in the COP28 Climate March in central London – all are welcome to join. Further details of this event will be announced in due course.
